Webinar on groundwater in the mekong delta of vietnam: current status and sustainable exploitation

 

In the spirit of celebrating World Water Day 22 March 2022, two Projects MARE and INOWASIA together with the Department of Water Resources, College of Environment and Natural Resources, Can Tho University have organized a Seminar on the Webinar platform, named Groundwater in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam: Current status and Sustainable exploitation. This is one of collaboration activities on scientific exchange under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement signed between the two Projects of Can Tho University.

 

The Webinar have been organized on Tuesday 22 March 2022. There were 83 participants joined the seminar. They are Bachelor and Master students of Can Tho University and some come from water-related Mekong Provincial Departments staff members.

There are four speakers for the seminar:

  • Quantity and quality of groundwater in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta by Dr. Nguyen Dinh Giang Nam, member of the MARE project.
  • Exploitation status and modeling results for ground quantily – Case study in Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province by MSc. Phan Thi Thuy Duy, researcher of the Department of Water Resources, College of Environment and Natural Resources, Can Tho University.
  • Development of innovative multilevel formation programs for the new water leading professionals in South East Asia by A/Prof. Nguyen Vo Chau Ngan, Director of INOWASIA project, CTU.
  • Marine Coastal and Delta Sustainability for Southeast Asia by A/Prof. Le Anh Tuan, Director of MARE project in CTU side.

 

The seminar was conducted by MSc. Le Nhu Y, researcher of the College of Environment and Natural Resources, CTU. She has acted as a MC. for introduction and panel discussion.
