PhD research topic
Assessment of greenhouse gas emissions from the carbon cycle in Notopterus chitala fish ponds in Hau Giang province.
Supervisor: A/Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan
Research objectives
The overall goal of the study was to quantify GHG emissions from the carbon cycle in N. chitala fish ponds in Hau Giang province.
Specific gobjectives of the study include:
+ Assessing the current status, developing data and thematic maps of intensive N. chitala farming, serving local management.
+ Quantifying CO2 and CH4 emissions from N. chitala farming activities, determining the factors that affect the ability of CO2 and CH4 emissions in intensive N. chitala ponds.
+ Modeling the elements in the carbon cycle from the N. chitala ponds. Identify variables that can help reduce and control GHG emissions from N. chitala fish farming.
+ Recommending solutions to raise fish in a sustainable ways.
- Assessment of current status of chitala fish farming in the province; building a database of current status of N. chitala fish farming and thematic maps using MapInfo 15.0.
- (ii) Experimental measurement on 3 chitala ponds to quantify CO2 and CH4 emissions; collecting samples of water quality and meteorological factors.
- (iii) Stella 8.0 software application to establish a mathematical model of the formation, transformation, metabolism and CO2 generation from chitala fishponds. (iv) proposing solutions for sustainable development of N. chitala fish farming model in Hau Giang.
