Overall objective:
To generate new knowledge and tools supporting governments to develop and manage groundwater resources for inclusive, resilient services
Specific objectives:
-
Evaluation of potential for exploitation, restoration and protection of groundwater sources according to ecosystems in the Mekong Delta.

Impacts of climate change on groundwater resources and impacts of gender inequality on groundwater exploitation.

Develop priority indicators to support local managers in integrated management of groundwater resources towards sustainable development..
Contents:
a. Preparing stage
- Provide input into the study design, including research questions and sub-questions, choice of study site, research methods, general research plan, and assignment of roles and responsibilities.
- Meet with UTS partner to discuss project plan.
b. Data collection, analysis and learning
- Contribute to the development of data collection tools (surveys, interviews, and focus group question guides, etc.).
- Lead data collection and fieldwork activities for household surveys and in-depth interviews.
- Integrate household survey results with existing well data and urbanization/industrialization.
- Conduct fieldwork for operations with water service providers, including logistics and data collection (interviews and focus group discussions)
- Preside over stakeholder workshops to jointly develop priority indicator frameworks.
- Participating in regional academic seminars with research partners.
Expected outcome:
- Participating in the co-development of a priority indicator framework to assist organizations in monitoring and planning for comprehensive climate resilient resource management and services.
- Support UTS to develop 02 articles and research abstracts:
+ Articles on household coping strategies, gender perspectives, groundwater resources and climate response;
+ Research summary on household coping strategies, gender perspectives, groundwater resources and climate response;
+ Articles on the views of water service providers, management strategies and climate response;
+ Research abstracts on water service providers' perspectives, management strategies and climate response;
+ Indicator framework for planning and managing groundwater-based WASH services
